SUBMISSIONS FOR FEBRUARY BINGO:

A free open call “give two, get one” exhibition and print swap model
at Candela Photographic Arts.

Candela Photographic Arts is thrilled to bring back our BINGO open call exhibition. This go around, 14 small photographic works will be on view from January 8 – February 13, culminating in a Valentine’s themed Bingo fundraiser during which each work on view will go to a new home with a photo lover! 

Juried artists will send two editions of their unframed print to Candela: one, a donated* print, will be framed in a standard frame and be available to win for our first Bingo Day. The other unframed print will be lovingly shipped to another participating artist in the Bingo show through a randomized print swap.

*Prints on view will be treated as an “in kind” donation to Candela Photographic Arts.

Candela will provide a small, standard sized frame (and mat if needed) for prints on view in the Bingo exhibition. The framed works will go home with lucky winners on the exhibition’s closing Bingo Day.

Submitters rejoice: we have a theme! This time, we’re looking to our favorite commodified February holiday for the open call prompt.

Cheek to Cheek explores intimacy through touch, gesture and form. For this call, we are looking for interpretations of touch and fresh takes on the photographic tradition of the nude – particularly, the beloved bottom.

Share your hugs, kisses, caresses, and spaces between, or share your favorite derrière. Unconventional, experimental, and playful images of all forms of love and booty are welcome.

* BUT(T): a small butt disclaimer: we ask that you keep your butts thoughtful, playful, and/or conceptual. Candela isn’t interested in nude imagery that feels exploitative or needlessly vulgar.

ABOUT THE SUBMISSION

Submission opens: Tuesday, November 3, 2026

Submission closes: Tuesday, November 17, 2026

Accepted works announced: Tuesday, December 1, 2026

THERE IS NO FEE TO SUBMIT TO THE BINGO SHOW.

We encourage you to submit up to three photographic prints for consideration. There is no theme for the exhibition other than the use of photography.

Requirements:

  • Each submitted print must have at least two available editions for consideration (variant editions are accepted). 

    • One print will be contributed to our small print bingo fundraising event*

    • One print will be entered into the Bingo Artist Print Swap.

  • Each submitted print must be no larger than 12 inches on its longest side

  • Each artist will be responsible for shipping their two prints to Candela by December 15, 2026. Candela will cover the cost of delivering all print swap prints to participating artists.

*Prints on view will be treated as an “in kind” donation to Candela Photographic Arts.

Artists are welcome to share print editions from side quests, one-off projects, proofs, or works-in-progress in addition to current bodies of work.

Submissions should include:

  • 1-3 jpegs for consideration

  • Artist name and contact information

  • Artwork title, year, medium, and dimensions

  • Artwork edition information

  • A short artist statement or bio relevant to submitted work

A note to artists: While we are thrilled to support the photographic practice of each featured artist and promote sales of work where we can, it may be good to note that this particular exhibition and print swap is philanthropic and community-focused in nature and may not be a great fit for artists looking for big sales opportunities! That’s okay! We know! We still love you! If this isn’t your jam, do not fear! Our annual UnBound! call opens in January 2027.
